Ideal Living

8. Semester spring 2019
Prof. Anne Lacaton

In this Semester we were challenged to think about the basic needs of housing. What are the Qualities of our living space and what are the luxuries we can provide also on a lower budget.

This particular project explored the qualities of split levels inside the flat to create more private spaces without making walls. It is designed as a flexible space with a concrete structure and a wooden infill. The apartments can be one, two or three stories high, depending on what the clients like.

It minimises and optimises the private space of one individual to create more space in the common areas and a private outside space for every room and living area. It is a project to promote the communal living in a bigger group which is not necessarily one's family. This is why the relationship between the communal and the private was of high concern
